Background, etc: Wanda Maximoff is the twin of Pietro Maximoff, the daughter of Magneto and his deceased wife, and a young woman of complex origin, to say the least. Her pregnant mother fled her father following a lethal display of his mutant powers, and she eventually committed suicide. She left behind Wanda and her twin, who were subsequently raised by an adoptive family of similar ethnic origin to their birth mother, in the wilderness of a rural European country called Transia. When Wanda and Pietro manifested their mutant abilities, it was amid the chaos of an anti-tziganist attack against their parents, which rapidly also became an anti-mutant attack. The twins subsequently spent years running and hiding, aware that if they were identified as mutants and Romani, they could meet an unpleasant fate.
Wanda was sexually assaulted in her mid-to-late teens by a man who had offered them work. She fought him off, but utilized her magical ability in the process, starting a barn on fire. The man (supported by the other villagers) swiftly claimed she was a "gypsy witch" who had "tried to seduce him with her daemon magicks", and literally tried to burn her at the stake. Fortunately, at least at that time, she and Pietro were rescued by Magneto, who inducted them into his Brotherhood of Mutants. Wanda was especially drawn to Magneto, viewing him as a father figure (she has always been more trusting than her brother), but Pietro became stand-offish. When Magneto turned on Pietro for refusing to kill an opponent, Wanda rebelled against the man she still does not know is her birth father. Together, she and Pietro escaped, finding themselves with only each other to rely on once again. They made it to America, where they learned the famous Avengers were auditioning potential new members. Although they knew it would be a long shot, they decided to try out.
Wanda is a vivacious but troubled mutant and magic user who cannot completely control her powers, though she has improved markedly since her teens. She has no idea how enormous her potential really is, only that being who she is has caused her a lot of pain. She also feels a great deal of guilt for what she inflicted upon others while with the Brotherhood, and looks at joining the Avengers (or some similar organization) as a way of seeking redemption, in addition to starting a new life.

My idea for her is that, being immortal, she's survived through the ages right up to modern day. She's traveled all over the world, grown as the world has changed, but every winter she still returns to Hades in the Underworld, and not just because that was the deal. I've reimagined the myth (as others before me have done) to give Persephone agency. She chose to eat the pomegranate seeds that would keep her in the Underworld because she tired of living under the stifling protection of her mother and being thought of as nothing but sweet and pointless. In the Underworld she would be a Queen who could rule over souls, and that idea appealed to her. She was by no means ruthless, but she also wasn't the bright-eyed innocent the old myths portray her as. I was totally inspired by this poem, btw.

Background, etc: Ava was born and raised in Washington DC, and her early life and family could've been held up as the stereotypical all-American upper-middle-class generic Christan ideal. Two things would shift that entirely off-course.
The first was a mysterious illness that started when she was eight years old and lasted nearly a year. The doctors could find no cause, and it came and went suddenly. She would get raging high fevers, to the point of delirium, and while she was in this state she would receive visions of the future. At first no one realized what these were, and her parents even began recording some of them in notebooks, thinking they'd be cute stories to tell when she was a grownup.
The second was her brother being murdered when he was sixteen and she was twelve. The crime remains unsolved to this day. Ava realized after the fact that this was something she'd seen when she was eight, and this is what propelled her into acting on her visions. Her family accepted her ability and her desire to help others, gave her the guidance and support she needed.

Background, etc: Michael Walsh is the youngest of four boys. He grew up in a fairly devout Irish Catholic family in Chicago. He felt called to service at a very young age; he was an altar boy, a youth leader at his neighborhood church, and eventually enrolled in a Catholic high school and college seminary with the aim of joining the priesthood.
He was ordained at 25 after earning an M.Div. and an MSW. He joined the staff of a large church in an affluent suburb, and all was quiet for almost five years. Father Michael organized youth groups and activities, led CCD classes and charity drives, and delivered communion to the elderly and ill who could not attend Mass on Sundays.
Two years ago a college student returned to the parish after abandoning her semester partway through. The more Father Michael worked with the young woman and her family, the more he became convinced that what church superiors believed were mental health issues and physical illness was in fact demonic possession. After being rebuffed several times when he tried to escalate the case so it would receive the necessary attention, he took matters into his own hands and performed an exorcism himself. He and his parishoner were both found unconscious in her home after nearly 24 hours' effort on his part; she was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital, of an apparent heart attack, and Michael was treated for exhaustion.
The Church's position was that Michael was seriously out of bounds, acting without authority, and performing the exorcism may have aggravated his parishoner's issues to the point of harm; Michael believed what he'd done was in fact too little, too late, and the young woman could have been saved if he hadn't had to battle church bureaucracy. He knew the Church would want this covered up and could at best defrock and at worst excommunicate him. He instead applied for dispensation from Rome to be relieved of his priestly obligations.
It was granted and he left about a year following the exorcism. As part of his laicization (being made laity) he is no longer permitted to offer communion, teach at Catholic schools, teach theology at any educational or religious institution, and reside in any place where he was a priest--so he was supposed to leave Chicago. He's been trying to adjust. He's found work that lets him use his training and background, but he's still trying to figure out what being a layperson means to him and his service.
And while he has doubts at times about the way things happened before he left, he has never wavered in his belief that he faced a demon, and he is preparing himself in case he ever has to do so again.

Allison Argent is sixteen, strong, and unsure of herself. She is a very hard worker when she puts her mind to something, for she always sets out to finish the job, whatever it is. It is in her nature to think on her feet and to squeeze herself out of tight spots. Though industrious, if wronged, Allison can act irrationally and can turn almost heartless. While often friendly and sweet (and flirtatious to the right people), she does not take to actually making friends easily after moving from place to place. Growing up, she found it was simply not worth it to pursue long-lasting friendships when she cannot plant roots where she stays. She is at a crossroads with her loyalties because she wishes to remain faithful to her family but longs for friendship and a semblance of normality. Regularly, she is a steadfast friend who will do anything for those she allows in her life.
For years, she has dabbled in various hobbies, from poetry to photography. While she has mastered gymnastics and archery, Allison is still very hard on herself because she wants to live up to her her mother’s high standards. She still doesn’t know what she wants to be, but she knows that you must suffer to master your craft and that women, especially, should never show fear in the face of danger. She must be tough as nails and she should never, ever cry in front of everyone.
It’s difficult, growing up with a semblance of a family and not a real one. Not only has she felt isolated from her peers, but she feels betrayed that her parents could have kept all this family history from her for so long and her rebellious nature tells her to throw all familial duties out the window. Conversely, now that she knows about the Hunters, she wants to be a good leader and to uphold her family’s beliefs. While she still grieves her mother's death and regrets her betrayal against her friends, Allison wants to grow and move on with her life, repairing her mistakes.

Isobel is not a real name, but it is the name the woman who bears it has used for almost 20 years. When she was about 18 years old, Isobel ran away from her name, her husband and her short-lived home with him in France. By chance, she met a man in London when her train was late and fell in love with him. She thought he returned her love, and he tried his best, but it was never quite the same. They lived together for a year, in 1883.
He became caught up in a project - a traveling circus unlike any other, interwoven with true magic. The circus is the site of an ongoing contest between magicians. Isobel, who can read true fortunes with the tarot but is just discovering her ability, volunteers to go and pass information back to him. Reluctantly, he agrees to the plan. She finds in the circus a home she didn't expect, and several deep friendships, but she builds her life on the expectation that once the contest is over, she will go back to her magician and they will have a life together.
16 years later, Isobel still looks 20 despite being nearer to 40, the contest has ended, and more or less everything that could have gone wrong in the meantime has. Isobel walks away and doesn't look back, but doesn't yet know where she is headed.

Julius is a sorcerer, the middle of three sons. His father had intended his older brother to be the powerful heir to the Selwyn name, but Julius was better at it, both through making better connections and his superior work ethic. This has led to an ongoing estrangement with his family, but also a lingering need to prove he is worthwhile that manifests itself through ambition. It has also led to some deep-seated trust issues that he generally hides behind an actively charming demeanor.
His main interest back home is combining magic and technology in innovative ways. He has told on more than one occasion that he is going to regret not leaving well enough alone one day. He has yet to hit that point. While he's not deeply immersed in his world's politics, he's not averse to them either, and tends to observe more than his jocular demeanor would suggest. He takes the measure of people quickly, which he learned as a survival technique when younger. He's well-off, though not as well-off as he might have been if he got along with his family. Julius likes people, but also likes that they are useful to his plans. On the other hand, he will genuinely help out those who need it more often than not.
He lives in contemporary London, most of his friends are jerks, and he should

At the point from which I play him, Keats is a medical student who has just published some of his poetry for the first time. He wants to abandon medicine to write full time, but his poems have been published to little notice. Meanwhile he--who unlike others, did not do anything to encourage the influence of these beings, but was chosen by them due to being born on All Hallows Eve--is struggling to resist their temptations to save his own soul.

Background, etc: Selin Solak is a sister and she is a witch.
These are not the only aspects that define her character, nor should they be, but they are perhaps the most important ones. Most other traits branch off of these two in some way. Magic has always been a part of her. Her sisters have always been a part of her. She is boundlessly loyal to her family, and she is and always has been committed to her craft; both because it has been in her family for generations, and because she believes once a gift - if it can be called that - is bestowed upon you, it is your responsibility to use it wisely. She has seen what happens when you don't.
Selin is the second-born of four sisters. Her parents were immigrants Havva and Emre Solak, both of whom were born in Moldova. As a result, their ethnicity is quite mixed and Selin is fluent in several different languages. The sisters lost their father when Selin was nine, and in a roundabout way, they lost their mother as well, as she was never seen again. This left an indelible impression on Selin, who internalized much of her feelings on the matters - love, family, marriage, magic, duty - and chose to focus on the family she had left instead. She went on to become a formidable peacemaker, a role she found all but necessary to take on while growing up with her three sisters, all of whom possessed unique and forceful personalities. She was often the voice of reason, however futile her attempts were at arbitration. This role didn't quite wear off as they all got older, either. They didn't always get along, and Selin did not always agree with their choices, but there wasn't a thing she wouldn't do for them.
Eventually, this became the root of her problem; Selin could not be certain of her own identity outside of who she was as a Solak sister. Having always felt a bit different and with no one to really turn to once everyone went their separate ways, she turned to her schooling; learning had always come easy to her. Selin has her own strong opinions about how problematic and exclusive academia can be, but she also knows how transformative it can be, as well. She was accepted at the University of Hampshire in Durham, having chosen to stick a bit closer to home than most in case her Aunt Gizem needed her. It is there she met a brilliant professor named Atticus Crane. Having always believed in the occult, and even teaching certain seminars on it, it comes as no surprise he grew fascinated with Selin's magic. In turn, she helped him with his research, and they proved to be a formidable intellectual match.
The mentoring relationship did not end well, for reasons Selin never quite discloses, and once she has completed her Masters program, decided to settle back home and work as a curator for the town's auction house - with her knowledge as a historian, it never hurts to have close access to precious artifacts many would consider ordinary. It is there in Dover she will be reunited with her sisters after having not seen them in nearly a decade.

Background, etc: Marie is the youngest of seven children born into a wealthy family of type-A overachievers. By 'wealthy', this means 'ridiculous, tabloid, Rothschild wealthy', the kind of family everyone thinks is in the Illuminati, or maybe actually own the Illuminati. For example, the first Daily Mail article Marie ever had written about her was when she was twelve years old, and it was awful. Her father's English family attracts the most of this attention; her mother's side is Nigerian, and while they're still quite prominent in their home country, they're less internationally well-known.
The problem is that while they are not in the Illuminati, exactly, one of Marie's paternal ancestors did make a deal with a demon in order to obtain all their wealth. A thousand years ago, he made a promise, and that promise was one of his descendants...which has added up to mean Marie. While she grew up in incredible luxury, Marie was beset by night terrors (sometimes daytime hallucinations), spates of depression, and insomnia, in which she swore she saw visions of a mysterious and monstrous Pale Man. Her parents consequently over-protected her, robbing her of many necessary coping mechanisms for her emotions. She was alternately incredibly lonely and smothered. Most of her emotional output was channeled into the ballet academy she attended, where she made a few friends and dreamed of making it on her own.
Her family was not super happy, since they preferred their youngest and most fragile member not go into such a high-stress field (that comparatively paid very little), but after some struggle, they allowed her to pursue her dreams. At twenty-four, she's a soloist in San Francisco with a promising future ahead of her, if she can just put her childhood anxieties to bed. And maybe sort out her troubles regarding her relationships, which recently involves a terrible break-up with someone she discovered was interested in her just for her money. She's not nearly as much of a shrinking violet as other people often think, but she is deeply introverted, when off-stage, and sometimes naive.
As far as she knows, her old nightmares were just that: nightmares.

Background, etc: Sarah Monroe is an angel of death. Details of what it means to be an angel in her world can be found here, but specifically, she is an AoD, and that means she can see someone's death before it happens. Her Calling means that she is there to help people through that death - by taking away their pain and making sure they aren't alone, right down to their very last breath. She is there to help them find peace, whatever is waiting for them on the other side.
Angels of death, by definition, are very rare and they don't get to live very long because of this Calling, and Sarah struggles with her own mortality along with trying to grow up into whoever she is meant to be in spite of it.
Also, she is big on Chicago - regardless of what version of Chicago she finds herself in.

Background, etc: Ethan is an Original Character based on
Ethan ended up in a world by himself during a full moon so there wasn't the chance to chain himself up. He shifted into a werewolf and being unable to control himself, he killed people. The next day, he discovered that he can't die. Rifts change the people who go through them, and the Rift had made him immortal. A very old, very powerful witch found him. He'd destroyed a portion of her woods so he agreed to work for her to pay off that debt, guarding the woods and scaring away any villagers to give the witch the privacy she sought.
I'm not sure if having a werewolf in this setting is doable, but I can work something into his history that would take the 'forced to shift during the full moon into a full blown monster' part of that away if need be. :) Just let me know.

Also - as far as the werewolf thing is concerned, go for it. There aren't werewolves in the Caster Chronicles canon, but that doesn't mean that they can't come and play too.
