Background, etc: The novel tells a fictionalized alternate history of the Regency, where the Romantic poets--including Keats--owed both their astonishing creative capacity and horrific personal tragedies to the influence of supernatural beings in their lives.

At the point from which I play him, Keats is a medical student who has just published some of his poetry for the first time. He wants to abandon medicine to write full time, but his poems have been published to little notice. Meanwhile he--who unlike others, did not do anything to encourage the influence of these beings, but was chosen by them due to being born on All Hallows Eve--is struggling to resist their temptations to save his own soul.
