the hostel, rogers park

Upon seeing the influx of new, disoriented people with nowhere to go, Rogers Park landlord Graciela Rodriguez generously turned one of her rental properties into a hostel for the new arrivals to stay in until they got their feet under them. Although it is financially free, there is always a price: rumor has it that the pale, dark-haired man seen in Graciela's company has been spotted jumping from nineteenth- or higher-story windows, and that some tenants will wake up the next morning not remembering their dreams ... or their best friend's name.

midnight, the gold coast

As far as most of the patrons of Midnight are concerned, it's a fun dance club located in the heart of downtown with a decent selection of bar food and a really hot owner, Washington Gates. But unknown to those same patrons, there is another club tucked away, accessible only to those with something extra - gold eyes preferred. While the Mortals dance and drink only feet away, Dark Casters live it up - and sometimes, if a Mortal or two goes missing, that's the price of a good time, isn't it?

the lunae libri, the loop

Elethea Morris is a librarian at the Harold Washington Library, well-liked for her kind personality and well-respected for her books published over her thus far short but promising career. But unknown to her co-workers, or most of the people in her life, Thea is also a Keeper, or a Mortal charged with looking after a specific branch of the vast Caster library. In her case, it's the branch hidden beneath the Harold Washington, only open on days when the main library isn't. The Mortal library is open 9 AM to 9 PM, except holidays - and the Caster library is open on those holidays, from 9 PM to 9 AM. A huge repository of books, if it has been written down, it will be in the Lunae Libri ... somewhere.
